How to Buy a Premium .IE Domain
A practical Irish buyer’s guide to eligibility, due diligence, written terms, payment and registrar-assisted transfer.

Buying a premium .IE domain is a business acquisition, not a normal registration. The name already has a registrant, so the buyer and seller must agree the commercial terms and complete the appropriate .IE transfer process.
1. Confirm the domain and seller
Start with the exact domain, the agreed price or offer process, and the identity of the seller. Ask what is included. Unless the agreement says otherwise, a domain purchase does not automatically include a website, logo, social account, customer list or intellectual property.
2. Check your .IE eligibility
.IE is a managed country-code namespace. A registrar may ask the incoming registrant to show a real connection to Ireland and a legitimate claim to the proposed name. Ask your chosen registrar to pre-check the documents before committing funds.
3. Put the terms in writing
The written agreement should identify the domain, parties, price, VAT treatment, payment method, transfer steps, timing, responsibilities and what happens if the registry or registrar cannot complete the change. Keep claims about traffic, rankings and future value out of the agreement unless they can be independently verified.
4. Agree a safe completion process
For straightforward transactions, the parties may agree cleared bank funds and a documented registrar process. For higher-value transactions, consider an independent licensed escrow provider after checking its fees, jurisdiction and release conditions. Outrank does not take payment on this website.
5. Complete and verify the transfer
A change of registrant is not always the same as moving a domain between registrars. Follow the instructions from the relevant registrar, then confirm the registrant details, nameservers, renewal date, account security and renewal payment method after completion.
